Baby Shower in Curryville

Today, Megan had her first baby shower in Curryville, MO (population 251 as of the 2000 census and according to the sign I found here).  The shower was hosted by Megan's Aunt Angie (with help from her other aunts as well).  Besides her family local to this area, Megan's mom and sisters came from Wichita.  It was very nice and we got a lot of great stuff for Stella.  So much stuff that we were barely able to make a little foot by foot square in the Pathfinder for Sugar to travel back home in.

Reserved Parking

Megan and I were up in the St. Louis area for one of her baby showers for her family that resides in Missouri.  We went to the Chesterfield Mall while we were in the area and got to take advantage of a close Expectant Mothers spot in the 100 degree heat (not too hot though to snap the pic above).  Megan didn't think she was "pregnant enough", but I had no qualms whatsoever snagging this convenient parking spot.

St. Luke's Hospital Tour

Today, we took the weekly public tour of St. Luke's South Maternity Center.  St. Luke's is one of two hospitals where our doctor has privileges, the other being Shawnee Mission Medical Center which we have yet to tour (Megan's already pretty familiar with Shawnee Mission because this is where Braedon was born).

They have everything you'd expect (NICU, round the clock security, doctors, indoor plumbing, etc.).  The biggest standout at St. Luke's that we were not expecting are the size of the rooms.  As you can see from the pics that Megan was embarrassed of me taking, they are enormous!  These are birthing suites that allow you to remain in the same room during our stay as opposed to separate delivery and recovery rooms.  Megan and I like the idea of having the whole process in one room.

I was expecting all kinds of accommodations for the mother, but sounds like they offer a lot of comfort for the father too.  They have a stocked kitchen, sleeper sofa, TV, DVD player, and the biggest bonus of all (for me) -> WiFi.

We are leaning more towards St. Luke's because of the birthing suites, but we are going to still tour Shawnee Mission because they have gone through recent renovations and we are curious as to what they now have to offer.
